Fruitville Library is beginning a major renovation that will create a modern, welcoming campus for all ages. To complete this work safely and efficiently, the library building will temporarily close beginning Thursday, Dec. 18. The reimagined library is scheduled to reopen in July 2026.

When it reopens, you can look forward to:

  • A Creation Station makerspace for hands-on learning
  • A renovated children’s area and a dedicated teen room
  • New collaboration and study rooms
  • Expanded community meeting rooms
  • A green courtyard for relaxing, reading and outdoor events
  • Convenient access to the new History Center, celebrating local stories and archives

During the closure, Fruitville Library staff will be temporarily reassigned across Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources locations, so there is no lapse in service. You may see familiar faces at nearby libraries as our team continues to serve you.
