History Center
The Sarasota County History Center is your one-stop shop for information and resources about Sarasota County's remarkable past. The History Center is also the headquarters for Sarasota County's historic preservation programs, which aim to identify and protect significant historic buildings and archaeological sites.
The History Center's large collection of archival records, historical newspapers, photographs, maps, and other materials are open to the public for research and enjoyment. Staff recommend contacting the History Center at least three business days in advance to make sure the materials you want to use are available. No appointment is required, but be advised that some collection material is stored offsite and must be brought to Osprey for you to use it.
