Interlibrary loan

There are a few options to locate the books, movies, audiobooks and more that you are looking for:

• Library's catalog (books, movies, audiobooks and more)
• Digital library (eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies, music, TV shows, newspapers, magazines and more)
• Submit a purchase request (books, audiobooks and more)
• Interlibrary loan (print materials more than one year old)

Library Catalog

Search the library catalog for your desired book, movie, audiobook, music, or other item.

If the item isn't available in the library catalog, you're welcome to suggest that we purchase the item or request to borrow it via interlibrary loan from a Florida library.

Digital Library

Browse or search in each service for your desired book, movie, audiobook, music, or other item.

Visit the Mobile Apps page for specific online resources and apps that provide access to books, audiobooks, music, movies, TV shows, newspapers, and magazines.

Suggest a Purchase

If the title is in publication, you may suggest a title for purchase. Simply fill out the online form, and our collection development librarians will let you know if the item can be added to the Sarasota County Library collection.

Use the suggest a purchase form for:

• New printed books (published within the last 12 months)
• DVD/Blu-Ray
• Audiobooks
• Music CDs
• Downloadable formats, such as eBooks or eAudiobooks

Interlibrary Loan

Use our Interlibrary Loan service to request physical printed materials (more than one year old) or digital journal articles from a participating Florida library.

Sarasota County Libraries use FLIN SHAREit to manage Interlibrary Loan Requests.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Guidelines

• Patrons must have a valid Sarasota County Library Card.
• Library accounts must be free of fines.
• Only physical print materials (regular and large print books) or digital journal articles are available for request.
• Items less than 1 year old cannot be requested.
• A maximum of five (5) ILL requests may be active at a time.
• Interlibrary Loans are loaned for a period of 3 weeks (21 days).
• Interlibrary Loans may be renewable. Ask Us! or call 941-861-1110.

Create/Login to your Interlibrary Loan Account

1. Visit the FLIN SHAREit page. If prompted for a type of user, select Patron (library staff will click Staff).
2. Log in using your 14-digit library card number and PIN. Note: Your PIN defaults to the last four digits of your card.

Request a book or journal article through Interlibrary Loan

1. Search the Sarasota County Library Catalog.
2. If not found, log in to FLIN SHAREit to search and request items.
3. Search using keywords or advanced options as needed.
4. When the Item is "Book" and shows at least one available copy, click the Request this Item button and follow the prompts to complete the request. Reminder: Only physical print materials (books) that are at least one year old or digital journal articles are available through interlibrary loan.
